Award-winning opera coming to Indian Hills Community College

Feb 06, 2013

OTTUMWA — Southeast Iowans will be able to experience opera Saturday when OPERA Iowa’s educational touring troupe visits Indian Hills Community College.

Featuring colorful scenery and costumes, theatrical lighting and musical accompaniment, OPERA Iowa will present a two-hour English version of Gaetano Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love” at 7:30 p.m. in St. John Auditorium on the IHCC Ottumwa campus.

The performance, sponsored by Indian Hills, is free and open to the public.

OPERA Iowa performs these presentations in an effort to make opera more understandable and more accessible to students and families. The OPERA Iowa troupe has performed in nine states throughout the Midwest and in Japan and China to spread the thrill of opera to more than 700,000 students and adults.
