Fresh off a victory Thursday vs. sixth-ranked Pella, the Fairfield boys’ soccer team once again prevailed Friday with a 3-1 win over Oskaloosa at Trojan Stadium.

Thanks to goals by senior Roan Bachar and junior Austin Lauderman, the Trojans put the game away early and carried a 3-0 lead into the break. Bachar scored the contest’s first two goals after booting in the winning goal Thursday, and Lauderman tacked on the game’s third goal to give Fairfield a much-needed cushion early.

Oskaloosa scored at the second half’s start to cut the deficit to 3-1, but the Trojans kept the visitors away from their goal the rest of the game.

“At the break I thought we could take the foot off the pedal to save some energy going into Monday’s conference game against Mount Pleasant. We played deeper and relied mostly on counters to attack Oskaloosa’s goal,” Fairfield head coach Felisto Guezimane said. “We have some varsity players out, so the rotation was very short and most players had to play a lot of minutes. Hopefully we can get those players back very soon.”

The Trojans (2-1, 0-0 Southeast Conference) open up conference play today at home vs. Mount Pleasant.
