Libertyville church packing ‘Blessing Baskets’ Sunday

LIBERTYVILLE — Volunteers will be packing Blessing Baskets from noon to about 3 p.m. Sunday at Faith United Methodist Church.

Children will be baking cookies at that same time to include in the baskets.

Faith United Methodist Church partnered with Seida Community Action of Jefferson County to identify Libertyville families most in need to receive a Blessing Basket during the Thanksgiving season.

The goal of the project is to let those in need know their community and God care about them and offer them some hope during the season of giving.

About 28 families will be receiving a basket.

The cost for each basket is about $25. The church received a $175 Hunger Relief grant from the Iowa Conference United Methodist Church Thanksgiving Ingathering to offset about one-third of the cost of the mission project, and donations for the baskets were taken from Oct. 23 through Nov. 6.

The baskets will be packed with frozen turkeys, sweet potatoes, instant potatoes, green beans, corn, noodles, cereal, fruit and cranberries.

Lunch will be served for the volunteers working on the Blessing Baskets Sunday.
