‘Behind the Scenes’ fashion trip planned

Mar 05, 2018

The ISU Extension offices in Jefferson, Des Moines, Henry, Lee, Louisa, and Washington counties are sponsoring a spring regional trip to Ames April 13.

Participants will be participating in the Behind the Scenes Day, sponsored by the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences: Apparel, Merchandising, and Design.

During the day, participants will participate in mini activities: “Where do your clothes come from?,” “How do they start?,” “How are they produced and marketed?,” “How do clothes today compare with clothes of the 1960s?”

Participants also will hear from students about their college experience and interact with faculty. The day ends with a viewing of the final dress rehearsal of the Iowa State University Fashion Show and Design Competition.

Cost for the trip is $30, which covers registration, lunch and transportation. Participants are encouraged to bring extra money, as they will spend time in downtown Ames looking for the perfect Clothing Selection and/or $15 Challenge outfit.

The trip is open to all eighth- through 12th-grade members.

Registration is due by Friday. Seats are limited.

For more information regarding the trip or Jefferson County 4-H, contact Rachel Wonderlich, county youth coordinator, at 472-4166 or rachel4h@iastate.edu.
