Betty Jane Black Cubbage, 92, of Fairfield, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Dave Albert officiating. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery, south of Libertyville.

Visitation for family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cubbage was born July 28, 1924, 3 miles southwest of West Grove, the daugher of William J. and Minnie Stivers Black. She married James “Robert” Cubbage Feb. 27, 1946, at the Bloomfield parsonage. He died June 1, 2011.

Mrs. Cubbage retired from Walmart in 1996 after 10 years of service. Before that, she and her husband retired from farming.  Mrs. Cubbage loved her family and enjoyed every minute she spent with them. She was known as a good cook and enjoyed feeding all her family. She also loved her dog Spunky.

Survivors include: her children, Betty Janette Campbell of Batavia, Cora Ruth Rippey and husband Russell of Libertyville, Roberta Ann Fleig and husband Randy of Fairfield and Harold Robert Cubbage and wife Kathy of Libertyville; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Cynthnia Wray of Moravia, Ruth Davis of Ottumwa, and Ethel Houser of Cedar Rapids.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; one grandson; and three sisters, Grace Jackson, Mary Ellen Black, and Mabel Ellison.
