The Spencer Cemetery Association will be removing all decorations from the ground only Monday so grass mowing can continue. Anyone wishing to keep their decorations should remove them by the Monday deadline.

Volunteers are needed to help raise and lower the flags for the Stockport Avenue of Flags July 4 for Independence Day, weather permitting.

Anyone who would like to help should meet at 7 a.m. in front of city hall to raise the flags and at 4 p.m. to lower the flags.

Stockport residents say the Avenue of Flags is a beautiful sight to behold when all of the flags are flying.

The flags only fly four times per year: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Fourth of July and Veterans’ Day.

The Stockport Public Library building will be undergoing a “face lift” in the next few weeks.

Library director Beverly Runyon stated the library will be open during its regular hours during the construction, so patrons can check out books and movies and children can come in and register for the summer reading program, which starts July 10.

The Stockport Public Library is open 3-6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays.
