The summer reading program activities were postponed last week until today due to the heat. The children were set to take a walk to visit a nearby garden, plant flowers outdoors and have an interesting snack today.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, at this week’s week’s summer reading program, “Just DIG it!,” participants will enjoy reading, an activity or game, crafts and snacks.

Next week is the last week of the summer reading program for this year. Participants will pretend to be pirates and “DIG” for buried treasure.

Construction at the Stockport Library is coming along nicely, with three new windows and a new door installed.

During the next phase of construction that will be going on above the front door, patrons should enter and exit the library through the back door.

Book and movie returns can be put in the book drop next to the library.

Everyone is invited to a Community Picnic in the Park from 6-8 p.m. today at City Park. Hot dog roast, chips, cookies, S’mores and drink will be provided.

Kids’ games and more are planned

Stockport United Methodist Church is sponsoring the event.

School will be starting soon and it will be time once again for the School Supplies Give-away. Starting Aug. 4, school supplies will be given out to the children of Stockport 3-6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays at the Stockport Library.
