Blood center seeks donors for 2 events

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has scheduled two blood drives in the area.

Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie will host a community blood drive from 2:30-7 p.m. Monday in its fellowship hall.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Aug. 14 are eligible to give at this drive.

To donate, contact the blood center at 800-452-1097 or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 5098 to locate the drive.

Jefferson County PM will host a community blood drive from 2-7 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Cambridge Learning Center.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Aug. 15 are eligible to give at this drive.

To donate, contact the blood center at 800-452-1097 or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 5032 to locate the drive.

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age, although a 16-year-old with a parental permission form can donate; forms are available through www.bloodcenter.org. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure can be accepted as eligible donors. Donors must weigh more than 110 pounds and have a photo I.D. Blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin. It is the exclusive provider to Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney and Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
