Blood donors eligible to win vacation package, show tickets

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has scheduled five area blood drives in Fairfield and the surrounding communities.

Donors at all five events will be entered into a drawing to win a $2,500 vacation package, plus additional incentives will be available at two of the events.

Richland will host a community blood drive from 2-6:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at Mother Cabrini Parish Center in Richland.

Donors who last gave blood on or before June 19 are eligible to give at this drive.

Lockridge Fire and Rescue will host a community blood drive from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Donors who last gave blood on or before June 20 are eligible to give again at this drive.

The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center will host a community blood drive from 3-6 p.m. Aug. 16 in its Smith meeting room.

In addition to being entered to win a vacation package, all donors will receive a Blend Card for 10 percent off one ticket to a 2017 Artist Series show and be entered to win two tickets to a 2017 Artist Series show, courtesy of the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.

Donors who last gave on or before June 21 are eligible to give again at this drive.

Jefferson County AM will host a community blood drive from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 18 in the Jefferson County Health Center conference room.

Donors who gave on or before June 23 are eligible to give again at this drive.

St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield will host a community blood drive from 2:30-6:30 p.m. Aug. 21 in its parish hall.

In addition to being entered to win the vacation package, donors also will receive a voucher for a T-shirt.

Donors who gave blood on or before June 26 are eligible to give again at this drive.

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age, although a 16-year-old can donate with parental permission; a parental permission form is available at www.bloodcenter.org. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure can be accepted as eligible donors. Donors must weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate. The blood center personnel say blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin. It is the exclusive provider to Jefferson County Health Center, Van Buren County Hospital, Keokuk County Health Center and many others.
