Blood drives set in Fairfield, Birmingham

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has three blood drives scheduled in Fairfield and a fourth one set in Birmingham.

Fairfield High School will host a community blood drive from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the school gymnasium.

Donors who last gave blood on or before March 15 will be eligible to give at this drive, and all donors will be entered to win a $25 Casey’s General Store gift card.

For an appointment to donate, contact a member of the FHS Student Council or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 5023 to locate the drive.

First United Methodist Church in Fairfield will host a community blood drive from 2:30-6:30 p.m. May 15 in the church dining room.

Donors who last gave blood on or before March 20 will be eligible to give at this drive, and all donors will receive voucher for an “I bleed blue” or “I bleed red” T-shirt.

Fairfield Arts & Convention Center will host a community blood drive from 3-6 p.m. May 17 in its Smith meeting room.

Donors who last gave blood on or before March 22 will be eligible to give at this drive, and all donors will receive voucher for an “I bleed red” or “I bleed blue” T-shirt.

For appointments to donate, contact the blood center at 800-452-1097 or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 5396 to locate the drive.

Birmingham Lions Club will host a community blood drive from 3-6 p.m. May 18 at the Birmingham Lions Building in Birmingham.

Donors who last gave blood on or before March 23 will be eligible to give at this drive, and all donors will receive voucher for an “I bleed blue” or “I bleed red” T-shirt.

For appointments to donate, contact Harry Anderson at 319-498-4201 or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 5006 to locate the drive.

Potential blood donors must be at least 17 years of age, although a 16-year-old can donate with a completed parental permission form available at www.bloodcenter.org. Donors must weigh more than 110 pounds. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure can be accepted as eligible donors. A photo I.D. is required to donate.

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals, including Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield and Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
