Bonnifield Questers

May 10, 2017

Bonnifield Chapter No. 1012 of Questers met Monday at Fairfield Golf & Country Club to celebrate its 35th anniversary.

A brunch and program was enjoyed by 25 attendees, including William Henry Coop Chapter members.

Questers is a national organization with a purpose to study and stimulate an interest in antiques and to encourage the preservation of historical landmarks. Iowa leads the nation in membership with 100-plus chapters.

The group chose the name Bonnifield Log House Chapter in recognition of what is thought to be the oldest pioneer dwelling still standing in Iowa. The house was built east of Fairfield in 1838. The Old Settlers Association moved the house to Old Settlers Park, adjacent to Waterworks Park, in 1908, where it remains today. The official charter name is Bonnifield.
