Boy Scout Troop 64 was out in the cold, rainy weather Feb. 26 to clean up a 2-mile stretch of Highway 1 outside Fairfield.

The scouts, including Colton Bishop, Dylan Fisk, Evan Murphey, Gannon Scott and Carter Thompson, their scoutmaster Blake Robison were assisted in the cleanup by a couple of parent volunteers, Mary Bishop and Kris Rankin.

Each member of the troop is required to do community service with each rank advancement. They usually complete the roadside cleanup twice a year — once in the spring and again in the fall, but they also have volunteered for the Fairfield Elks’ Flags Day ceremony in June, pop can drives, packing Christmas boxes for The Lord’s Cupboard and planting trees in Chautauqua Park.

Boy Scout Troop 64 is sponsored by First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.
