Broadway Players bringing‘The Addams Family’ to FHS

Mar 27, 2018

The Broadway Players of Fairfield High School will present ‘The Addams Family — a New Musical Comedy” in April.

This show builds on the Broadway Players’ theme for the year: Every Family is a Little Bit ... Different!

The public will have four opportunities to enjoy the new musical. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. April 20, 21, and 28 at 2 p.m. April 29 in the FHS Auditorium. Ticket prices are $8 for general admission and $10 for reserved/preferred seating. Tickets can be purchased in advance in the FHS office or at the auditorium box office before each performance.

Based on the original comic by Charles Addams, the Addams family lives in a quirky world where their unique, centuries-old traditions and values are the most important part of life. Gomez and Morticia, the patriarch and matriarch of the clan, assume their way of life will continue for centuries to come. In the upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy and pain is joy.

Nonetheless, these eccentric parents have to tackle the same challenges faced by any family including the most frightening one of all: the Addams kids are growing up! Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a respectable young man from Ohio — the most un-Addams person one could be! Everything will change for the whole family on the evening they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents. In one rollicking night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible reality they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.

Portraying Gomez and Morticia Addams in the FHS production are Brittan Bowman and Phoenix Haessler. The peculiar Uncle Fester is played by Jackson Brown. The roles of siblings Wednesday and Pugsley Addams are filled by M Aven Gottshall and Harper Fiske. Crotchety Grandma Addams is played by Alex Holden. David Wallingford portrays tall, dark, and kooky Lurch the butler. The completely normal Beineke family are Gunnar Mattson (Mal), Alyson Reid (Alice), and Andrew Alonso (Lucas).

“The Addams Family — a New Musical Comedy” is presented by special arrangement with Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
