Fairfield and Jefferson County’s Travel & Tourism Week concluded with the presentation of the 2018 “Best of Tourism” awards and the individual Tourism Recognition for Excellence in Experiences awards.

Fairfield Mayor Ed Malloy announced the awards at Fairfield’s “Out to Lunch” event Friday on the square, recognizing businesses that create experiences, improve the tourism product, attract visitors and enhance resident quality of life.

The categories and the award winners are as follows:

• Best Bar/Pub Experience – Jefferson County Ciderworks

• Best Restaurant Experience – Ila

• Best International Restaurant Experience – Shokai Sushi

• Best Live Music Venue – Café Paradiso

• Best Shopping Experience – At Home Store

“We are excited to recognize our tourism partners that create an exciting, fun and inviting atmosphere,” said Rustin Lippincott, executive director of the Fairfield Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Voted on by visitors and residents, these businesses impact our ability to be a player in the arts & culture destination market.”

Malloy also named the recipients of the 2018 Tourism Recognition for Excellence in Experiences, which recognizes employees in the tourism and hospitality industry who positively enhance the visitors’ experience during their stay in Fairfield and distinguish themselves through enthusiasm and exemplary service.

• Lodging Employee – Amber Brobston, Best Western Fairfield Inn

• Restaurant Employee – Armagan Aktar, Café Paradiso

• Tourism Volunteer – Gene Luedtke

“We are committed to putting an emphasis on our tourism product; the reasons people visit Fairfield, it’s our businesses, organizations, and events that create experiences and help tell the Fairfield story,” said Lippincott. “The T.R.E.E. Awards are the best of the best in Fairfield and Jefferson County and we thank the people who nominated the businesses and individuals.”

The Convention & Visitors Bureau announced the tourism awards, both the Fairfield “Best of” and the T.R.E.E. awards will be annual awards bestowed during Travel & Tourism Week, which is the first week of May.
