DES MOINES — The 2017 All-Iowa Master Gardener’s Art Show awards will be presented during a reception from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden.

Entering the show is open to all Iowa Master Gardeners. Applications are being accepted now through Sept. 4. Entries must have a horticultural, floriculture, or gardening theme and must have been completed within the last three years.

Categories include: Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Fiber/Leather/Basketry, Ceramic, Metal, Glass, Repurposed for Garden Art, and Photography. Photos should be identified as: Traditional, Close Up, or Digitally Enhanced.

Up to three entries can be made per category.

The application is at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/polk/news/all-iowa-master-gardener-art-show.

If an individual artist wishes to apply in more than one category, a separate application will need to be submitted for each piece of artwork. Mail completed applications to Pat Reeves, 2208 Hillside, West Des Moines 50265, by Sept. 4. For information, contact Reeves at patriciareeves2@gmail.com

In addition to Best of Category designation, selected artwork will be exhibited at the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden’s North Gallery from Sept. 22 through Nov. 12. Free standing art pieces can be entered in the art show, but it is not possible to display free standing objects in the North Gallery; these entries will be represented in a photo collage. Selections for art to be hung in the gallery will be based on Botanical Garden criteria for exhibits and selection will be part of the judging process.

If not selected to hang in the North Gallery, art needs to be picked up at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Botanical Garden. If selected to be hung in the North Gallery, art needs to be picked up on Nov. 12.

Awards will be presented at the Sept. 21 reception. The reception is open to the public, friends, and family.
