Camping scholarships

Fairfield Elks Lodge 1192 donates $200 to Fairfield Boy Scout Troop 64 for camping scholarships to be used to assist the scouts in affording summer camp at Camp Mitigwa. From left are: Elk Bart Richmond; Boy Scouts Caleb Rankin and Logan Fritz with scoutmaster Jim Schwarz and Exalted Ruler of the Fairfield Elks Lodge Doug Alexander. “This has been an ongoing program for many years, and the Elks are pleased to help serve the youth of our area,” said Alexander. “As Elks, we are dedicated to serving the youth and the veterans of our communities and work to assist in any way we can with our youth programs, such as scholarships, hoop shoot, drug awareness programs, sponsoring the fire safety training trailers, student of the month programs, most improved-GPA programs, sixth-grade essay contests and many others. The Elks also assist and support local veterans through the adopt-a-vet program, deerhides collection program and serving meals at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown every spring and fall.”
