Cardinal eyes beatable teams ahead

By Justin Webster | Oct 03, 2017

ELDON - Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you. That pretty much sums up the three week stretch for Cardinal in class A district 6 as they lost 63-12 Friday to first place New London.

This follows 74-0 and 56-6 losses to district front-runners Lynnville-Sully and Pekin respectively, leaving the Comets in an unfair situation at 1-5.

The good news is the Comets have two district games remaining versus beatable opponents. First they have a bye week this Friday thanks to Danville players morphing with West Burlington-Notre Dame this season, followed by their senior night vs 2-3 Montezuma before a road trip to 0-6 North Mahaska to close out the 2017 campaign.
