Cardinal falls to Wilton

By ALLYUS FRITZ/Ledger sports editor | Oct 07, 2013

The Cardinal Comets football team had another rough game Friday, losing to Wilton 52-0.

“Wilton is a very good team,” Cardinal coach Adam Hadenfeldt said. “We knew going into the game that we would have to play as well as we possibly could to compete with them, and that did not happen.”

Cardinal was able to move the ball through the air during certain points of the game, but the ground game was completely stopped. The Comets rushed for only 11 yards.Quarterback Brandon Potts threw for 68 yards.

Hadenfeldt is proud of the effort that his team put forth.

“One thing that was nice to see was that our number twos and our young guys really competed hard when they got a chance to play in the second half.

“As long as we continue to get great effort from the guys, we can live with whatever the results might be,” Hadenfeldt said.

Cardinal (1-5) travels to Wapello this Friday.
