Celebrating Dr. Seuss Week

Mar 07, 2018

Washington Elementary School kindergartners participating in Hat Day and reading a Dr. Seuss book are, from left, Markell Lewis, Elvis Kinder, Xander Riegel, Drazen Babcock and Reece Rasmussen. Fairfield’s elementary schools participated in Read Across America Spirit Week last week. They got into the reading spirit by designating each day of the week as a special dress-up day based on one of Dr. Seuss’s books. Monday was “Fox in Socks,” so students and staff wore their craziest socks. Everyone wore their favorite hat Tuesday for “Cat in the Hat” day. “Wacky Wednesday” was a day for wearing mismatched outfits. Thursday was “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish,” so they wore red and blue shirts. Friday was “Green Eggs and Ham,” so green was the color to wear, and the cooks even made green eggs and ham for lunch! Friday was Dr. Seuss’s (Theodor Seuss Geisel) birthday.
