Mar 11, 2013

Lewis Russell, left, receives the William Penn University football program’s first NAIA Champions of Character Award, which is given to one player for “demonstrating the quality character traits, as an athlete, that are identified by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.” These traits are respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship. Russell, a varsity first string receiver for the 15th-ranked Statesmen, is the son of former Van Buren Elementary School principal Chuck Russell and former Fairfield Middle School teacher Mary Ellen Russell. On May 11, he will graduate from William Penn earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with an emphasis in criminology.
