From left are Amanda Stonehouse, Autumn Rose-McBride and Taylor Person, all enjoying their free summer lunches Monday at Fairfield Middle School. Amanda said the cafeteria’s strawberries are “the best,” and that she’s also fond of its hamburgers. Autumn said she was keen on baby carrots, or any fruit or vegetable for that matter. Taylor said her favorite foods were carrots, strawberries and milk. Any child through age 18 can have a free, healthy lunch; a child does not have to qualify for free lunches during the school year to eat the free summer lunches. Adults over 18 can purchase a meal for $3.50, but children are served lunch first. The program continues through Aug. 25.
