Jonas Magram

Fairfield resident Jonas Magram will produce his 22nd annual Children’s Holiday Benefit Concert Dec. 8-9 at Cafe Paradiso.

Showtime for both days is at 8 p.m.

This year’s concert will include the Jonas Magram Jazz Quartet, featuring Magram on vocals and tenor sax, piano master Steve Hillis on keys, Bill Blackmore on double-bass, and Steve Jeffries on drums. Vocalist Jenny Sammons and guitarist John Schirmer will appear as special guests.

The group’s set will include legendary tunes such as “It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing),” “Blue Moon,” “Girl From Ipanema,” “Almost Like Being In Love,” “Smile,” and other classics from the golden age of jazz.

Frankie Cenatori, Marina McKay, and Keith DeBoer will open the show with a folk and blues set featuring their unique and soulful harmonies.

Tickets are $12 (students and Invincible American participants will pay $8), available in advance, at Café Paradiso, and at the door.

Since its inception, the annual benefit has raised about $250,000. This year’s proceeds will benefit the Jefferson County Resource Center, the Ottumwa Women’s Crisis Center, and Airline Ambassadors, an international organization that trains airline personnel to stop child trafficking.

This year’s fundraising target is $20,000, a goal that depends on new donors to step forward. Those wishing to make a tax-deductible donation can get details by writing childrensholidaybenefit@gmail.com.
