Columbus ships arrival delayed

Jun 04, 2013

KEOKUK — The arrival of the replicas of Christopher Columbus’ ships, the Pinta and Nina, at Keokuk has been delayed due to flooding and lock closures.

The ships were scheduled to open to the public last Friday at the Keokuk Yacht Club and be there through this Sunday, but the Columbus Foundation Inc. states, “It is impossible to determine if the ships will arrive in Keokuk before the following weekend.”

For a schedule and more information about the Columbus ships, visit the website www.thenina.com or call the ships at 787-672-2152.

The ships are scheduled to be visiting several ports along the Mississippi River this summer, including the Port of Dubuque Marina by the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium July 26-30 and Big Muddy’s Restaurant in Burlington Aug. 15-21.
