OTTUMWA — As a kickoff to Indian Hills Community College’s Homecoming week, the college will welcome one of its talented alumni to the stage. Vocalist Diana Upton-Hill will present a concert full of timeless favorites at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in St. John Auditorium on the Ottumwa campus.

Admission is free.

Upton-Hill has been touring with her Pop Orchestra since 2006, often performing holiday concerts throughout the Midwest. Her Pop Orchestra is comprised of 15 musicians based in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois and Wisconsin. The concert will include classic favorites from multiple genres spanning numerous decades, including such favorites as “Over the Rainbow,” “Dust in the Wind,” “I Feel the Earth Move” and “Someone Like You.”

“We’re including so many gems,” Upton-Hill said. “A good song is timeless, no matter what year it was written or made popular.”

Upton-Hill graduated from Indian Hills in 2003 before receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music and vocal performance from Truman State University.

Her performance credits include appearances with major symphony orchestras, starring roles in professional theatrical productions and performances on live television and radio. She also has two full-length albums to her credit in addition to several singles and EPs and has worked on several other artists’ projects.

The concert also will feature a performance by often-heard Upton-Hill collaborator, Mitch Goudy, the son of Joe and Diane Goudy of Fairfield.

Goudy recently released his debut country singer/songwriter album and will be performing his song “Take Me Somewhere” with the Pop Orchestra as a special guest. He also will accompany Upton-Hill on guitar and background vocals during the concert.

“It will be great to be back on the St. John Auditorium stage, where I learned so much over the years as a student and performer. It’s like coming home,” said Upton-Hill.
