Congregate Meals: April 17-21, 2017

‘Cook’s choice’ on congregate menu Tuesday

Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its congregate meals menu for the coming week.

Monday — pork and cabbage casserole, baked sweet potato, pineapple tidbits, oatmeal-raisin cookie.

Tuesday — cook’s choice.

Wednesday — pot roast, boiled new potatoes, grilled onions, baby carrots, strawberries, vanilla wafer cookie.

Thursday — beef macaroni casserole, green peas, spinach-mandarin orange salad with assorted dressing, cinnamon applesauce.

April 21 — potato-crusted fish fillet, scalloped potatoes, Harvard beets, diced cantaloupe.

Each meal includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Reservations for meals at the Fairfield site must be made one day in advance either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403.

For reservations at the Lockridge Senior Center, call 319-696-2086.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Center.
