Congregate Meals: Aug. 12-16, 2013

The Fairfield Senior Citizen Center has listed its menu for the coming week.

Meals are served at 11:30 a.m. ­Monday through Friday at the Fairfield senior center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge senior center.

Monday — roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, spinach, strawberries.

Tuesday — roast pork, oven-browned potato, cheesy broccoli, mixed green salad with vinegar and oil dressing, banana orange gelatin.

Wednesday — liver and onions, parsley butter potato, mixed vegetables, ice cream cup.

Thursday — scalloped chicken, zucchini and carrots, apricots, lime gelatin square.

Aug. 16 — Salisbury steak and gravy, sweet potatoes, kale/spinach, pears.

Milk, whole-wheat and whole-grain bread/muffins, and margarine are offered with all meals.

The menu provides a general balanced diet that meets the RDA’s/RIA’s for adults.

Meals are offered on a contribution basis for persons 60 years of age and older and their spouses of any age. Full cost of meals is: congregate, $5.87; carryout, $6.35; home delivered, $7.73.

Reservations for meals at the Fairfield senior center must be made one day in advance either at the center or by calling 472-4403.

For reservations at Lockridge, call 319-696-2711.

Bingo is played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday in Fairfield.
