Congregate Meals: December 4-8, 2017

Brokkens taking on responsibility for meals in Lockridge

Congregate meals will be served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

The menu is:

Monday — roast beef, brown gravy, oven-browned potato, lima beans, mandarin orange.

Tuesday — cream of potato soup, saltine crackers, turkey patty, Tomato Spoon Salad, banana.

Wednesday — roast pork loin, brown gravy, candied sweet potatoes, broccoli cuts, pineapple crisp.

Thursday — beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, Harvard beets, orange wedges, assorted yogurt.

Dec. 8 — potato-crusted fish fillet, scalloped potatoes, Crispy Creamy Spinach, apricot halves.

Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.

Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

 

Brokkens taking on responsibility for meals in Lockridge

LOCKRIDGE — Beginning Monday, Leo and Dianne Brokken will be assisting with the congregate meals served Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

The Brokkens will be taking meal reservations at 319-696-3450. Reservations are required and must be made by 6 p.m. the day before the meal is needed. Callers are asked to leave messages if the Brokkens do not answer their phone.

The Brokkens will pick up the meals from the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and transport the food to the Lockridge Senior Center to be served at noon.

The Brokkens also plan to be at the center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. so people can play cards or participate in other activities.

Six to 10 diners are needed consistently for the meal service to continue in Lockridge.
