Congregate meals; summer lunch program: June 19-22, 2018

Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals

Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

The menu for the remainder of this week is:

Tuesday — salmon patty, lemon wedge, baked potato, sour cream, broccoli-cauliflower-raisin salad, diced peaches.

Wednesday — meatloaf, red skin potatoes, tomato-cucumber salad, mandarin oranges, pumpkin pie.

Thursday — baked chicken, cheesy macaroni salad, spinach, fresh melon.

Friday — pork cutlet, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, roasted Brussels sprouts, banana-cinnamon-oatmeal bar.

Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.

Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Summer lunch meals

Fairfield Community School District is offering free summer lunches to any child age 18 and younger.

The menu for the remainder of the week is:

Tuesday — pizza, baby carrots, applesauce, milk.

Wednesday — sloppy joe on a bun, green beans, sidekick, milk.

Thursday — chicken bacon wrap, broccoli florets with dip, fresh fruit, milk.

Friday — crispy chicken patty on a bun, potato smiles, fresh fruit, milk.

Any child through age 18 can have a free, healthy lunch; a child does not have to qualify for free lunches during the school year to eat the free summer lunches.

Adults over 18 can purchase a meal for $3.50, but children are served first.

Lunch is served:

• 11:15-11:45 a.m. at Fairfield Public Library;

• 11:30 a.m. to noon at Pence Elementary School;

• noon to 12:30 p.m. at Maharishi School’s Kids Explore Summer Camp; and

• 12:05-12:35 p.m. at Roosevelt Community Recreation Center.

Children do not have to eat lunch at the same location each day.
