Convention center, Birmingham Lions hosting blood drives

Fairfield Arts & Convention Center

Fairfield Arts & Convention Center will host a community blood drive from 3-6 p.m. March 21.

All donors will get a Blend Card for 10 percent off one Artist Series ticket and be entered to win two tickets for Artist Series shows courtesy of Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 24 are eligible to give at the drive.

Birmingham Lions Club

BIRMINGHAM — Birmingham Lions Club will host a community blood drive from 3-6:30 p.m. March 22 at Birmingham Lions Building.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Jan. 25 are eligible to give at this drive.

For appointments to donate, call Harry Anderson at 319-498-4201 or visit www.bloodcenterimpact.org and use code 5006 to locate the drive.

Donor information

Potential donors must be at least 17 years of age, although a 16-year-old can give with parental permission; a form is available at www.bloodcenter.org. Donors must weigh more than 110 pounds. A photo I.D. is required to donate. Individuals with diabetes or controlled high blood pressure can be accepted as eligible donors.

Blood center officials say blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about 45 minutes to one hour.

Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood components to more than 90 hospitals in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Wisconsin. It is the exclusive provider to Jefferson County Health Center and Van Buren County Hospital.
