Sixty-one people attended the Coop-Godwin reunion Sept. 7 at Antioch Church.

Alan Coop gave the prayer before the noon meal.

Prizes were given to: Hank Godwin of Cedar Rapids, the oldest person; Ron Coop of Blue Springs, Mo., for traveling the farthest; Amy Kessel of Brighton, the shortest female; Duane Coop of Wayland, the tallest male; twins Abi and Jorja Teeter, daughters of Kari and Matt Teeter of Monroe and Keaton Coop, son of Travis and Desi Coop of Fairfield, the youngest. Alan Coop had worked the most years at the same job. He also had the most grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shane Hendricks of Kalona was the emcee.

Siblings Bruce Coop of Fairfield and Jo Chamber of Packwood spoke about their grandparents, A.L. Coop, P.N. Godwin, Kathryn Josephine Dana Coop and Carrie Virginia Armstrong Godwin. Pat Coop Hawk of Bloomfield said the Coop Cabin, which was moved from Macoupin County, Ill., to Antioch, is in need of repair following a recent wind storm. Teresa Mottet told about George McGovern visiting and signing the guest book and about Chief Black Hawk and the part he played in the family history.

Music was sang and played by Lynne Coop Leacock and her children Lindsey, Kelsea and Olivia Leacock Sturgeon, with Ryan Baswell, Rusty Coop. Steve Coop.

Rose Hendricks, Alan Coop and Sharon Smith helped plan the reunion with the committee: Alan Coop, Travis Coop, Rex and Lucille Godwin, Don Godwin, Sharon Smith, Cindy Chambers Bowermaster and Jo Chambers.

Next year’s reunion will be Sept. 6 at Antioch Church.
