December S.H.A.R.E. package orders due Friday

Orders are due Friday for the S.H.A.R.E. Iowa Inc. food packages available in December.

Orders can be placed by calling the St. Mary Catholic Church office at 472-3179 or the Southern Iowa Economic Development Association office at 472-6140. Orders also can be placed online at www.shareiowa.org. The pickup date will be at 8 a.m. Dec. 15 at the Fairfield Eagles Club.

Several different packages are available; participants can purchase one or more in any combination.

The $25 “best value” package includes 12-ounces of course-ground turkey, 12-ounces of hardwood-smoked bacon, 13.5 ounces of all-beef and pork fully cooked Salisbury steaks, 2 pounds of split chicken breast; 12-ounce Bonser homestyle noodles, an 8-inch prebaked apple lattice-topped pie and fresh seasonal produce.

The $13.50 grocery package includes the Bonser homestyle noodles, the prebaked apple pie and the fresh seasonal produce.

The $13.50 meat-only package includes the coarse-ground turkey, the hardwood-smoked bacon, the Salisbury steaks and the split chicken breast.

The $30 Christmas dinner package includes all the fixings for a meal for six: 6-pound Glen Rock boneless honey ham, pineapple tidbits, potatoes and gravy, corn, macaroni and cheese, apple pie, broccoli, celery, carrots, apples and oranges.

The $22 meat and cheese box includes two 7-ounce beef summer sausage, one 12-ounce beef and pork summer sausage, one 8-ounce block each of mild cheddar cheese, colby cheese and medium sharp cheddar cheese.

The $23 salmon box includes two 2-pound bags of Applewood smoky marinade boneless Atlantic salmon fillets.

The $28.50 T-bone/Porterhouse steak box includes four 16-ounce T-bone steaks.

Participants who order at least one of the main food packages also have the option to order “choice” items.

The choice items for December are: a 1.5-pound fully cooked Butterball turkey breast for $6; 2-pounds of chicken breast nuggets for $5.75; a 10-inch New York-style cheesecake on a graham cracker crust for $10; and a 10- to 12-pound whole turkey for $13.50.

Food packages are subject to changes.

The nonprofit food-buying organization offers meal food packages at reduced costs through its volunteer-run distribution system. Participants do not have to meet income guidelines. Participants are asked to volunteer at least two hours to an activity of their choice.
