Donald W. Shute, 81, of Fairfield died Thursday, July 11, 2013, at his home.

The funeral is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Interment will be in Batavia Cemetery at Batavia.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. funeral Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Shute was born July 20, 1931, in Ottumwa, the son of Walter W. and Edna May Brown Shute. He married Beverly Stout July 5, 1962, in Fairfield.

He grew up in Albia and Bloomfield and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1951.

He and his wife moved to Fairfield in 1962.

Mr. Shute worked at The Dexter Company in Fairfield for 31 years, and he had worked in the coal mines.

Mr. Shute also owned and operated Shute T.V. Sales and Service for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his wife Beverly; two sons, Gary Shute and Todd Shute; and three daughters,

Carla Fleig and husband Mike, Lisa Shute and Tammy Smith and husband James, all of Fairfield; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Everett Lee Shute in Washington state.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
