The Pekin softball team fell 3-1 in an SEISC showdown Monday night at New London after scoring the games first run.

Zoey Wright went 1-3 and stole a base in the top of the first before scoring on an RBI by Ellie Ledger on what should have been a sacrifice fly to right that was dropped, allowing Ledger to reach on the error and giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Cate Roth, Makenna Myers, Kennedy Coleman and Remi Duwa had the other four hits, but Pekin failed to score again.

The Tigers recorded their three runs in the third when Alexa Wenger hit a two-RBI single to break a 1-1 tie.

Cari Duwa threw 89 pitches over five innings and took the loss after allowing three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out one.

Faith Goudy threw 11 pitches during her inning of relief and allowed just one hit.

The Lady Panthers will travel with the boys to Wapello tonight before taking Wednesday off.

They’ll rejoin the boys Thursday at home versus Winfield-Mt. Union before traveling to West Burlington Friday.
