The group planted 11 trees in Chautauqua Park that day, and plan to plant six south of the Fairfield Middle School near the baseball and softball diamonds to replace ash trees. Ash trees are under assault from the emerald ash borer, and some people have removed their ash trees proactively before infection. The Elks and scouts help each other during the year. The scouts help the Elks during Flag Day, and the Elks donate $100 to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts each to attend summer camp.
