Eugene Wayne Kemp, 83, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at his home.

A graveside service will be held at noon Monday at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Mark Haverland officiating.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center. Cards and memorials may be sent to 305 S. 29th Street, Apt. C, Fairfield 52556.

Mr. Kemp was born Aug. 28, 1929 in Huntoon, Saskatchewan, the son of Paul E. and Cecilia Ohms Kemp. He married Rachel Wiley Aug. 23, 1953, at the Methodist Church in Leando.

Mr. Kemp served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1952. He worked for American Chain and Cable and also for Kemp Christmas Trees with his wife for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Neal Kemp and wife Sue of Aurora, Ill., Alan Kemp of Urbandale and June Kemp of Ottumwa; one sister-in-law, Catherine Kann of Fairfield; and four grandchildren: Stephen Kemp, Jennifer Kemp, Nikolas Kemp and Samuel Kemp.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Howard Kemp, Emory Kemp, Carroll Kemp, Dwight Kemp and Paul Kemp; two sisters, Arla Mae Baird and Thelma Kramasz; and one sister-in-law, Joann Wiley.
