‘Everybody Sings’ uplifting group

By Laura Goldman Weinberg | Aug 31, 2017

To the editor:

I am a new member this season with the “Everybody Sings” Community Choir.

I am not a professional singer by any means but I do love to sing. When I saw the notice in the paper a few months ago that the choir was starting up, I decided to check it out. The minute I walked in the door, I felt so welcomed by everyone. I soon realized that we are all at different places in our singing abilities but that we had one thing in common: our love for singing, our love for coming together as a unit and creating harmonic sounds that we could not do alone.

The sense of unity and dedication is very special in the group. It’s not about being “perfect” but about opening our hearts and connecting in our oneness. There are moments during our practice that tears come to my eyes as I feel uplifted and blessed to be part of the experience, as if I’m a small part of a heavenly choir.

My heart and soul get uplifted when I sing and even more when I sing with the choir. I hope the community comes out in droves to support the choir and will feel as moved as I do when hearing the songs of love and light, as well as the amazing Faure’s Requiem. The choir has worked very hard to create an evening of inspiration, and we look forward to sharing it with the whole community on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Sondheim Theater.

We pray all our spirits will come together and be uplifted in oneness and joy through the gift of song.
