Fairfield Art Association announces it is time to register for its week-long youth art camp.

This year’s theme is “Art Around Town,”and camp will be held 9-11:30 a.m. Aug. 7-11 in the Fairfield Art Association Studio at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.

The session is open to students in second- through fifth-grades.

The week will be filled with a variety of colorful projects and fun Fairfield subjects instructed by local artists inside and outside the art studio.

Aug. 7 will kick off with instructor Suzan Kessel leading “Drawing on the Town Square,” followed by “Creative Box Buildings” back in the studio assisted by Deb Doyle.

Aug. 8 includes “Painting Local Scenes,” with an alley art tour and creating “Local Characters,” directed by Katie Bell and Jacob Smithburg.

Aug. 9, David Kraemer instructs “Courthouse Sculpting” using clay and relief sculpture methods.

Aug. 10 will be “Our Town Printmaking” with Kella Tschopp using many materials to create mono prints.

Throughout the week, other art projects will be going on simultaneously, including “Fairfield Vibe Pour Painting” on canvas lead by David Pattison, and original “Flowers of Fairfield” with multiple instructors.

Aug. 11 begins with each student creating their own “Self Portrait” and ends with a grand “Art Finale Exhibit” at 11:30 a.m. in the convention center’s atrium lobby for the students, parents, family and guests. At the conclusion of the group exhibit, art works are taken home by the art camp students.

Early registration is encouraged so art supplies can be purchased ahead, and the class will be limited to the number of students. All materials are provided and included in the class fee of $100 per student for the full week, with $80 fee for a second child in same family.

Contact suzan1252@aol.com for a registration form, or pick one up between 1-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday in the art studio.

Registration is due by Aug. 1, with deposit or full payment.
