Fairfield boys’ and girls’ bowling concluded their team seasons Tuesday when the guys finished third and the ladies fifth at the district meet hosted by Louisa-Muscatine.

The girls’ battled for third with Washington and Pella Christian but fell just short for fifth.

Head Coach Lisa Greenig said, “The girls did well as a team compared to their practice averages, and they have improved so much this year!” She added, “While they were shooting for third or fourth, they finished their season with some great scores.”

Trenady Sammons was high series with a 300 (133-167), followed by Kristin Burnstedt’s 294 (162-132), Sophia Mineart with 260 (139-121), Allison Krumboltz 250 (122-128), Taylor Blomme 224 (110-114) and Jenna Wickenkamp 217 (109-108).

The gentlemen finished third out of seven teams and while they were unable to qualify for state, one of their senior leaders, Brayden Fishel, earned one of only five at-large spots in the individual competition when he finished third in his district with a score of 474 (245-229). Fishel will face eight district champions and four other at-large throwers at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo Monday Feb. 19 at 10 a.m.

Other scores were: James Lyman 349 (159-190), Shane Morrissey 346 (157-189), Chance Swan 307 (169-138), Drake Rippey 307 (165-134), and Dalton Rippey 265 (139-126).
