Fairfield Castings to change hands

By Nicole Major, Ledger staff writer | Jun 26, 2017

Fairfield Castings LLC recently informed its employees that on July 31, the business would undergo a change of ownership, which would affect all its employees.

In mid-June, the business posted a Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification announcement, which is a requirement under the United States labor law for businesses that employ at least 100 employees to provide at least 60-calendar days of advanced notice in the event a plant closure or mass-layoff.

According to the WARN posting, Fairfield Castings is actively conducting an active sale process, which is to be concluded on or around July 31.

Further, the notice states that Fairfield Castings LLC will be experiencing a permanent layoff due to business conditions on or after July 31, and it is not known as to whether the buyer will operate the business at the Fairfield location or whether it will close the plant.

The notice also explained that the information was provided to the State Dislocated Worker Unit, the union and to Fairfield Mayor Ed Malloy.

The Ledger made several attempts to contact Terra Greiner, the firm’s human resources associate, but was unable to reach her by press time.
