Fairfield Concert Association program Sunday at Sondheim

Feb 09, 2018

As part of Fairfield Concert Association’s season, “Belov & Penn at the Sondheim” will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Stephen Sondheim Theater for the Performing Arts.

From Mozart and Rossini to Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and Richard Rodgers, baritone Anton Belov and mezzo-soprano Hannah Penn will sing arias, duets and Broadway show tunes.

The voice of Belov has been called rich and mellifluous by the New York Times while the Philadelphia Inquirer calls it that of an emerging star. A native of Russia and a graduate of the Juilliard Opera Center, he has appeared with numerous companies and orchestras throughout the United States, and has earned critical acclaim for his wide ranging portrayals of diverse characters. He is equally at home with opera, oratorio and concert repertoire.

Penn, mezzo-soprano, enjoys a diverse career as a performer of opera, oratorio, and recital literature. Frequently praised for her musicality and the timbre of her voice, Penn has recently been called “... a major talent” and “... an intelligent and wonderfully musical singer” by Portland’s Willamette Week, and was praised for having “... intriguing colors at both ends of her range” by The Oregonian. She has sung more than 20 operatic roles with Glimmerglass Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Portland Opera, Tacoma Opera, and other companies.

Fairfield Concert Association members are admitted free with proof of membership. Fairfield Concert Association offers individual tickets to non-members for the season performances

General admission tickets for “Belov & Penn at the Sondheim” are $20 and are available at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center Ticket Office, 472-2787 and www.FairfieldACC.com.
