Utter domination.

That is what the Mount Pleasant Panther softball team experienced Monday at the hands of the Fairfield Trojans. The Trojans did not allow a run in either game of the doubleheader while scoring 18 runs.

The Trojans scored one run in the first and one in the fifth before pulling away with four in the sixth.

Freshman hurler Alli Deao went seven strong innings and gave up no runs on five hits and a walk with no strikeouts.

Mackenzie McClure went 2-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Madison Roberts was 1-3 with a run and an RBI. Marisa Repp singled, scored and stole a base.

Sydney Burnett had two hits, an RBI, a run and a steal.

The Trojans’ success from game 1 rolled right into game 2 as they scored three in the second and then exploded for nine runs in the third. The game was called after three innings for the mercy rule.

Burnett had a great game at the dish, going 2-3 with a gland slam, five RBIs and two runs. Trojan coach Bob Bradfield said he believed that was Fairfield’s first grand slam of the year.

Katie Anderson was 2-3 with a run and two RBIs. Repp went 2-3 with two runs. Waugh went 2-3 with a run.

Madison Roberts singled, scored twice and drove in a run. McClure went 2-3 with a run and three RBIs. Karley Williams drove in a run. Makenna Ledger went 1-2 and scored. Makenzie Flattery singled and scored twice.

Haley Grunwald held the Panthers to one hit and no walks while striking out two in three innings of work.

Bradfield said both Grunwald and Deao pitched great games, and their defenders played well behind them. The Trojans did not make an error in either game.

The Trojans are 25-9 on the year. They battle Fort Madison at home tonight at 5:30 p.m.
