Graham Kuehl pitches for the Trojans in a game earlier this season. Kuehl got the start for his team’s final regular season game of the year Tuesday.

The Trojan baseball team dropped its last regular season game of the year 7-2 against Oskaloosa Tuesday.

Oskaloosa got the scoring started with three runs in the top of the first, which the Trojans answered with two runs of their own. The Indians tacked on a run in the third and three more in the sixth.

Cam Baumann doubled, scored, walked and stole a base. Kosta Papazoglou singled and scored. Austin Simpson collected an RBI. Cade Lisk recorded the other hit for Fairfield.

Four pitchers took turns testing their mettle against the Indians. Graham Kuehl started, allowing three runs, one earned, on two hits and no walks with two punchouts. Papazoglou pitched two innings, surrendering one earned run on one hit with four Ks.

Jackson Weaton went 1.1 innings, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks with one strikeout. Simpson got in on the action, too, pitching 0.2 innings with two hits and two strikeouts.

“We wrap up the regular season and now on to the post season,” said Trojan coach Josh Allison. “After we cover a few things in practice these next two days we’ll be ready to open up the tournament trail.”

Allison said it’s important for the Trojans to put their team ahead of themselves as individuals. He said that if they remember to have fun, things will take care of themselves.

The first round of districts begins at 5 p.m. Friday in Fairfield when Mt. Pleasant faces Keokuk. The Trojans will tackle Fort Madison after that game. The winners from those two games will play each other in Fairfield at 7 p.m. Monday.
