Fairfield First Fridays

By ANDY HALLMAN/Ledger photo | Aug 06, 2018

Motier Haskins, back, throws Mahmood Ali to the ground during a demonstration of aikido Friday in Central Park, part of Fairfield First Fridays. Haskins is a sixth degree blackbelt and instructor of Fairfield Aikikai School of Aikido. Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba in the first half of the 20th century. According to the Fairfield club’s website, “Aikido is not primarily a system of combat, but rather a means of self-cultivation and improvement.”
