Fairfield freshman lose lead late at Keokuk

The Fairfield boys’ 9th grade basketball team played SEC foe Keokuk in their first half finale last week. The youngsters of Troy led 12-6 at the end of one period, but held on to just a 25-22 advantage at the break. The Trojans maintained a 40-32 spread in their favor at the end of three quarters, but the Chiefs increased their full-court pressure, which gave Fairfield fits as they were outscored 25-10 in the fourth quarter, losing the game 57-50.

Leading scorer was Waugh with 18, followed by Schafer and Whitney who each had nine a piece. Kapijimpanga add five, Jeffrey had four, Holden tossed in three and Crile netted two points.
