Fairfield JV Black drops two games

Jun 03, 2013

Fairfield JV Black dropped a pair of games to Muscatine at home Friday.

Brynna Bowman started in the circle and took the loss as Muscatine went off for an eight-run second inning. Haley Beard pitched three innings of relief, allowing two hits and one run with a pair of strikeouts.

Also in the five-inning first game, Taylor Ferrel and Bowman supplied one RBI apiece. Beard had a single, and both Kelsey Roberts and Lindsey Repp scored once.

“If we take out our one bad inning, we played Muscatine very closely on the night. Unfortunately, our second inning in game one combined three errors and seven hits with Muscatine tallying eight runs in that one inning,” said Fairfield coach Lisa Greenig.

The Trojans also lost the five-inning nightcap 4-3. Beard started in the circle and tossed four innings of one-run ball. Bowman took the loss in one inning of relief.

Mikaela Lunsford and Brooke McLain both had one base knock and an RBI for the Trojans. Repp and Bowman singled once, Sara Trent slapped a single and scored, and Harley Cook also plated a run.

The Trojans host Fort Madison Tuesday starting at 5:30 p.m.
