Monday’s JV basketball game between Fairfield and West Branch needed not one, but two overtime periods to decide a winner.

The Trojan boys rallied from behind in the fourth period to send the game into overtime, but they ultimately fell 73-68 in double-overtime.

The game was knotted up at 56-all after the fourth quarter and 62-all following one overtime period.

Alex Simpson led the Trojan offense with 21 points, including the final four in regulation to send the game into overtime. The sophomore also tallied nine boards and four steals.

Fairfield’s Jordan Reid finished with 13 points and three steals, while Keith Burns scored 10. Landen Greiner totaled seven points and eight rebounds; Keagan Drish and Logan Fleeman scored five; and Tanner Deao came through with four steals and two assists.

Fairfield continues its homestand Thursday against Keokuk.
