Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals

 

Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

The menu for the coming week is:

Monday — pork cabbage casserole, baked sweet potato, pineapple tidbits, oatmeal-raisin cookie.

Tuesday — chicken salad sandwich on wheat, potato salad, mixed green lettuce salad with dressing, orange wedges, banana pudding.

Wednesday — pot roast, oven-roasted new potatoes, grilled onions, roasted sliced carrots, strawberries, two vanilla wafer cookies.

Thursday — beef macaroni casserole, green peas, spinach-mandarin orange salad with dressing, cinnamon applesauce.

April 20 — potato-crusted fish fillet, scalloped potatoes, Harvard beets, diced cantaloupe.

Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.

Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield school meals

Fairfield Community School District has listed its lunch menu for the coming week.

Preschools:

Monday — breakfast: cinnaburst bread. Lunch: chili cheese max wrap, honey-glazed carrots, fancy pears, milk.

Tuesday — breakfast: cream cheese-filled bagel. Lunch: french bread pizza, green beans, peaches, milk.

Wednesday — breakfast: breakfast bar. Lunch: “tot” chos, beef and cheese, homemade cornbread, craisins, milk.

Thursday — breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: popcorn chicken, steamed broccoli, fresh fruit, milk.

Friday — breakfast: mini doughnuts. Lunch: cheeseburger on bun, baked beans, fresh fruit, milk.

Elementary schools:

Monday — breakfast: cinnaburst bread. Lunch: corndog, honey-glazed carrots, celery sticks, fancy pears, milk.

Tuesday — breakfast: cream cheese-filled bagel. Lunch: french bread pizza, green beans, Romaine side salad with dressing, peaches, milk.

Wednesday — breakfast: breakfast bar. Lunch: “tot” chos, beef and cheese, homemade cornbread, peppy pinto beans, salsa, frozen fruit cup, milk.

Thursday — breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: popcorn chicken, garlic toast, steamed broccoli, cucumber slices, fresh fruit, milk.

Friday — breakfast: mini doughnuts. Lunch: cheeseburger on bun, baked beans, baby carrots, fresh fruit, milk.

Fairfield Middle School:

Monday — breakfast: cinnaburst bread. Lunch: corndog or chili cheese max wrap, honey-glazed carrots, fancy pears, milk, fresh garden bar.

Tuesday — breakfast: cream cheese-filled bagel. Lunch: french bread pizza or cheese pizza, green beans, peaches, milk, fresh garden bar.

Wednesday — breakfast: breakfast bar. Lunch: “tot” chos, beef and cheese or chicken and cheese, homemade cornbread, frozen fruit cup, milk, fresh garden bar.

Thursday — breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: popcorn chicken or crispito with cheese slice, garlic toast, steamed broccoli, fresh fruit, milk, fresh garden bar.

Friday — breakfast: mini doughnuts. Lunch: cheeseburger on bun or crispy fish patty on bun, baked beans, fresh fruit, milk, fresh garden salad.

Fairfield High School:

Monday — breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — chicken Philly on ciabatta. The Grill — shredded roast beef on ciabatta. Sides: french fries, frozen fruit cup, milk.

Tuesday — breakfast: biscuits and gravy. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — cheesy Trojan bread with marinara. The Grill — French bread pepperoni pizza. Sides: honey-glazed carrots, dried cherries, milk.

Wednesday — breakfast: cinni minis. Lunch: The Bar — tacos. Sides — Mexicali beans, rice, apricots, milk.

Thursday — breakfast: biscuits and gravy. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — hamburger on bun or cheeseburger on bun. The Grill — barbecued chicken on a bun. Sides — steamed broccoli, applesauce, milk.

Friday — breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — chicken and noodles with homemade roll. The Grill — popcorn chicken with homemade roll. Sides: mashed potatoes, fancy pears, milk.
