Fairfield, Lockridge congregate meals

Congregate meals are served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center and at noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

The menu for the coming week is:

Monday — loose-meat burger, wheat hamburger bun, tater rounds, tomato slices, broccoli-cauliflower-raisin salad, banana.

Tuesday — roast pork loin, au gratin potatoes, lima beans, strawberries and bananas.

Wednesday — Swedish meatballs with gravy, spaghetti with vegetable salad, sliced carrots, ambrosia salad.

Thursday — chicken cacciatore, mashed potatoes, poultry gravy, roasted brussels sprouts, fresh melon plate, chocolate chip cookie.

April 27 — spaghetti and meat sauce, spinach salad with dressing, red peach gelatin, vanilla wafer cookies.

Each meal also includes wheat dinner roll or bread, unless another bread item is noted, margarine and skim milk.

Reservations for meals are required one day in advance. At the Fairfield site, reservations can be made either at the senior center or by calling 472-4403. At the Lockridge site, reservations must be called in to 319-696-3450 by 6 p.m.

For people 60 years of age and older and their spouse of any age, there is a suggested contribution based on income range. Individuals younger than 60 pay the full meal charge as posted at the meal site.

Check at the meal sites for meal options, such as shelf-stable meals or frozen meals, to use on days when no meal is served at the center.

Bingo is scheduled to be played from 12:15-1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at the Fairfield Senior Citizen Center.

Cards and other activities are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Lockridge Senior Center.

Fairfield school meals

Fairfield Community School District has listed its lunch menu for the coming week.

Preschools:

Monday — breakfast: blueberry bread. Lunch: breaded mozzarella cheese sticks with marinara, fresh fruit, milk.

Tuesday — breakfast: pancake on a stick. Lunch: beef and cheese walking taco, lettuce and cheese, frozen fruit cup, milk.

Wednesday — breakfast: apple-cinnamon breakfast bar. Lunch: spaghetti with meat sauce, steamed broccoli, raisels, milk.

Thursday — breakfast: cinni mini. Lunch: egg and cheese omelet, honey bun, tri-tater, strawberry cup, milk.

Friday — breakfast: breakfast bun. Lunch: crispy chicken patty, savory carrots, fresh fruit, milk.

Elementary schools:

Monday — breakfast: blueberry bread. Lunch: breaded mozzarella cheese sticks with marinara, corn, fresh fruit, milk.

Tuesday — breakfast: pancake on a stick. Lunch: beef and cheese walking taco, lettuce and cheese, refried beans, frozen fruit cup, milk.

Wednesday — breakfast: apple-cinnamon breakfast bar. Lunch: spaghetti with meat sauce, steamed broccoli, celery sticks, garlic breadsticks, raisels, milk.

Thursday — breakfast: cinni mini. Lunch: egg and cheese omelet, honey bun, tri-tater, baby carrots, strawberry cup, milk.

Friday — breakfast: breakfast bun. Lunch: crispy chicken patty on a bun, savory carrots, cucumber slices, fresh fruit, milk.

Fairfield Middle School:

Monday — breakfast: blueberry bread. Lunch: breaded mozzarella cheese stick with marinara or deli wrap, corn, fresh fruit, milk, fresh garden bar.

Tuesday — breakfast: pancake on a stick. Lunch: beef and cheese walking taco or chicken and cheese walking taco, refried beans, frozen fruit cup, milk, fresh garden bar.

Wednesday — breakfast: apple-cinnamon breakfast bar. Lunch: spaghetti with meat sauce or mac and cheese, steamed broccoli, garlic bread, raisels, milk, fresh garden bar.

Thursday — breakfast: cinni mini. Lunch: egg and cheese omelet or egg and sausage patty, honey bun, tri-tater, strawberry cup, milk, fresh garden bar.

Friday — breakfast: breakfast bun. Lunch: crispy chicken patty or pork tenderloin on a bun, savory carrots, fresh fruit, milk, fresh garden salad.

Fairfield High School:

Monday — breakfast: breakfast pizza. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — beef fiestada. The Grill — cheese quesadilla. Sides: Mexicali beans, peaches, milk.

Tuesday — breakfast: biscuits and gravy. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — cheese-filled breadsticks with marinara. The Grill — pizza crunchers with marinara. Sides: savory carrots, raisels, milk.

Wednesday — breakfast: pumpkin bread. Lunch: The Bar — potato with cinnamon roll. Sides — steamed broccoli, frozen fruit cup, milk.

Thursday — breakfast: biscuits and gravy. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — BBQ Rib Patty on bun. The Grill — meatball sub. Sides — French fries, peaches, cookie, milk.

Friday — breakfast: breakfast burrito. Lunch: Tasty Traditions — orange chicken. The Grill — egg roll. Sides: green beans, rice, rosy applesauce, milk.
