Fairfield Middle School locked down today

Apr 16, 2013

The Fairfield Middle School had a level 2 lockdown this morning.

The school district’s website, www.fairfieldsfuture.org, has a scrolling message: “FMS Level 2 lockdown this A.M. was for a precautionary search. There ws no creditable threat and no danger detected.”

FMS principal Laura Atwood was referring calls to superintendent Art Sathoff, but he was out of the district today.

Fairfield Police Chief Julie Harvey said she did not expect information to be available until late Wednesday morning.

A post on the website states FMS is scheduled to be practicing a Level I Lockdown procedure Wednesday. A Level I Lockdown refers to an exterior threat outside the building.

The post states, “We believe it is important to practice to ensure staff and students know how to handle the situation and to make sure everyone is safe within the building.”
