Fairfield Municipal Band playing its first-ever holiday concert

Dec 12, 2013

The Fairfield Municipal Band will present its first-ever holiday concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts.

The band is made up of 45 residents of Fairfield and surrounding communities. The group regularly performs in outdoor concerts during the summer in Central Park, although the convention center has opened the theater for the concerts when heat and rain have been factors. The convention center also has hosted the band’s summer practices for the past three years.

Music for the concert is Christmas and holiday based. It includes sacred and secular songs of the season, such as Elvis’s “Blue Christmas,” The Carpenters’ “Merry Christmas, Darling” and Amy Grant’s “Grown Up Christmas List,” which will be sung by Fairfield vocalist Emily Roth.

The concert is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted to help cover rehearsal space costs for the band.

For information, call the convention center’s ticket office at 472-2787.
